Orthodontics Invisalign In-Ovation – Tampa FL – Crosscreek Orthodontics

Invisalign

Invisalign is a revolutionary new way to straighten teeth. It uses a series of clear, nearly invisible aligners to straighten teeth. They are far more comfortable than traditional braces since there are no brackets or wires. It is also removable which makes it quite easy to brush, floss and eat.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

The Invisalign process begins with taking impressions of your teeth, which are then submitted to Invisalign. Using the latest computer imaging technology, Invisalign generates a 3-D image of your dentition. Dr. Dau will then review the 3-D images to prescribe the desired movement and final position of the teeth. Invisalign will then translate these instructions into custom aligners. The number of aligners needed to complete treatment depends on the complexity of the case. You will wear each set of aligners for about two weeks. Your teeth will gradually move as you progress to the next aligner. Dr. Dau will see you every 4-6 weeks to monitor progress and make necessary adjustments.

HOW OFTEN DO I WEAR IT?

Invisalign will only work if you wear it. We recommend that you wear your aligners full time, day and nights. You can remove your aligners to eat, drink, brush and floss.

IS IT COMFORTABLE?

Initially, it may take several days for you to get accustomed to wearing your aligners. You may have a slight lisp initially, but will normalize after 1-2 days. Most people may experience some soreness of the teeth a few days after wearing the aligners, which is sign that the teeth are moving. The soreness will eventually go away after a few days of wearing each new aligner in the series.

COST AND TREATMENT LENGTH

The duration and cost of treatment depends on the severity of your case, which will determine the number of aligners needed to complete treatment. Each set of aligners are worn for 2 weeks. The number of aligners needed may range from 10 to 40 aligners. Treatment may last from 6 months for a mild case to 24 months with greater complexity.
